Project Description

These photos show a woman in her early 60s before and after upper and lower eyelid surgery. After surgery she looks more youthful and better rested without looking fake or overdone. She is only six weeks after surgery and still has some swelling, which will continue to improve over the next several months.⠀ ⠀ Her left eye is more prominent than the right due to differences in the bony framework around her eyes (orbital asymmetry causing relative exophthalmos). The difference in bone structure makes the left eye look “bigger” than the right. We decided not to address this issue, as it would have required more extensive surgery. Note how much better she looks even though her eyes are not completely even.⠀ ⠀ Most patients who come in for cosmetic surgery just want to look like a younger version of themselves. It’s not necessary to address every imperfection or asymmetry in someone’s face. No one is perfectly symmetric, including the world’s top models and actors/actresses. ⠀ ⠀ The key to good plastic surgery is to make sure the patient and surgeon are on the same page about what needs to be done and what should be left alone. ⠀
