Project Description
These photos show a woman in her early 50s before and three months after upper blepharoplasty surgery. Removal of the excess upper eyelid skin gives her a more youthful, refreshed look without looking fake or unnatural. In addition to looking aged, upper eyelid hooding can also lead to a sad look. Notice how she looks happier in her after photo, even though her facial expression is the same. This patient has large eyes under the excess skin – upper eyelid surgery in this type of patient always has to be approached with caution. During the consultation, its important to test where the upper eyelid will rest after surgery by pulling up on the eyebrows to mobilize the weight of the excess skin. If the upper eyelid sits above the iris (colored part of the eye), then a patient would generally not be a candidate for upper eyelid surgery. Of course, if the patient feels their eyes look too big, surgery would obviously not be a good option for them.
