Lip filler treatments are performed in-office with topical numbing cream, and nerve blocks can be used for additional comfort if desired. The procedure takes approximately 10 minutes, and most patients experience moderate discomfort that is well-tolerated. Lips may appear swollen and slightly overcorrected for 2–3 days, but the final results are natural and balanced.
To minimize bruising, patients should stop taking blood thinners such as aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, and Aleve at least two weeks prior to the procedure. Most patients require one vial of filler to achieve their desired results.
