Under eye bags can be a genetic trait and are not always related to aging. I treat many patients in their 20s with this type of problem. There is no real reason to wait until middle age if the under eye bags are bothering you.

]]> These photos show a woman in her mid-20s before and after lower blepharoplasty surgery. One vial of filler was used to blend the eyelid-cheek junction prior to surgery. As you can see, removal of her under eye bags gives her a more refreshed, less tired look. Under eye bags are not always age related. Many patients are born with puffiness under their eyes and are excellent candidate for surgery in their 20s. Fillers alone are not a good option for this type of patient and will usually lead to unnatural results over time, even if the treatment looks okay immediately afterward.

]]> These photos show a woman in her late 20s before and five months after ptosis repair surgery on her right upper eyelid.⠀ ⠀ Prior to surgery, her right upper eyelid drooped over her pupil giving her a tired, unbalanced look. After surgery, she looks more symmetric and balanced. ⠀ ⠀ Ptosis surgery is the most difficult type of eyelid surgery and exact symmetry isn’t always realistic. As you can see in this patient, the eyes aren’t perfectly even. That being said, her symmetry is improved considerably and I would consider this an excellent outcome.⠀

Reducing the under eye shadows helps give her a refreshed, less-tired look. A video of her before and immediately after her injections was posted previously. Not all patients are candidates for this procedure. In the under eye area, fillers are best used to reduce hollowing. Under eye puffiness is best treated with surgery.
